Apply to QUAAF

QUAAF recruits driven graduate students from the Smith School of Business who want hands-on experience managing real capital in alternative markets. If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you.

Who Can Apply

Applications are open to current Queen’s University graduate students enrolled in a Smith School of Business program, including:

  • Full-Time, Accelerated (AMBA), and Executive MBA
  • Master of Finance (MFin)
  • Master of Management Analytics (MMA)
  • Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence (MMAI)
  • Master of Financial Innovation & Technology (MFIT)
  • Other eligible Smith graduate programs

How to Apply

1. Get to Know Us

Explore this website and our LinkedIn page to understand how QUAAF invests, how we’re structured, and what membership involves.

2. Apply

If you’re a Queen’s graduate student and you’re interested, complete the application form and rank your preferred departments.

3. Coffee Chat

Promising candidates are invited to a virtual coffee-chat interview with members of the Executive Team.

4. Assignment

After your coffee chat, we’ll give you a short assignment. We move to onboarding only once you’ve completed it and we’re satisfied with your work.

5. Onboard

If it’s the right fit on both sides, you’ll be onboarded into the organization and join your team.

Choosing Your Department

On the application, you’ll rank QUAAF’s departments — Investment, Risk, Operations, and Data — in order of preference. We do our best to place every successful candidate in one of their top three choices. The Executive Team balances your preferences against where the organization needs more hands and which roles are currently open, so the fund stays well-staffed across every function.

Before You Apply

What You’ll Need

  • Your Queen’s email address
  • Your degree program and graduation date
  • Any professional designations in progress or completed (CFA, CPA, broker licences)
  • A current resume (Word or PDF, max 10 MB)
  • A short note, in your own words, on why you want to join

The Commitment

Members commit roughly 2–4 hours per week to QUAAF. We track meeting attendance and run a brief performance review each month, so we’re looking for people who are genuinely engaged and dependable.

One ask: write the “why do you want to join” response yourself — using AI for that answer is an automatic disqualification.
